What To Expect
1. Statue of King Decebalus Straight drive from Timisoara ( around 3h drive ) all the way to the Danube Gorge where we will be taking about the biggest rock sculpture in Europe and get some great photos of Decebal, the last king of the Dacians.
2. Danube Gorge Our journey continues with the highlight of our trip – a motor boat ride on through the Danube Gorge. The narrowest part of the Danube river is right here, creating a natural border between Romania and Serbia and we’ll explore the 9km by motorboat. 50 minutes
3. Pestera Veterani During our motorboat ride, we will make two stops to see two caves. Inside the first cave, named Veterani, we will hop off and explore a natural cave that had an important role during Austrian times.
4. Pestera Ponicova Our second cave is Ponicova, where we’ll be going inside by boat. Just a bit, as the space is thight, but enough for us to see how impressive the cave is, at is is the largest cave in the Danube Gorge.
5. “Buraul Mare” Waterfall After exploring the Danube Gorge we’ll be driving along the river for an hour and a half till we get to one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Banat. We’ll walk through the forest for 5 minutes to get there.
6. Modavita Waterfall Last stop for the day will be Modavita Waterfall, which is unique in shape, some people saying it looks like a dog with its mouth open. The green moss that covers it will definitely amaze you.
