We will pick you up at your hotel and drive east towards Transylvania. After some two hours, we will make our first stop to visit Corvin Castle. This Middle Ages castle is the biggest of this kind in the southeast of Europe.
Around noon, we will drive further east and after another hour we will reach Sibiu, the beautiful Transylvanian Saxon city dating back to the 12th century. 2007 Sibiu was the European Capital of Culture, while in 2019 Sibiu was designated the European Region of Gastronomy. We must have lunch here! We’ll try some delicious local Romanian or Saxon dishes in a nice restaurant downtown in the old Saxon Burg.
After lunch, we’ll tour this beautiful city, once the capital of Transylvania. We’ll see St. Mary Church, the Council Tower, the Liars’ Bridge, the Grand Square but also the Small Square, the Brukenthal Palace, the defensive towers and walls, and the Orthodox Cathedral (and probably more than that, but I don’t want to lose you because of the long list).
At the end of the city tour, we can drop you off at your accommodation in Sibiu, or we’ll drive back to Timisoara (about 3 hours).
This tour is perfect for those who visit Timisoara and continue to want their trip to Transylvania. Sibiu is the base for those who want to explore Transylvania.
